Deborah Vukovitz - Violin, Viola, Beg. Piano

B.A. from UCLA and Certificate in Film Scoring from UCLA Ext.

Studied with Josef Gingold as a Violin Performance major at Indiana University, Bloomington (3 years)

Studied with distinguished Colburn violin pedagogue Robert Lipsett (4 years)

As a teacher Deborah Vukovitz is dedicated to nurturing her students’ creativity, artistry, and empowerment and passing on to each student the legacies she has cherished from her own teachers. Deborah studied with legendary violinist Josef Gingold (whom she was drawn to for his exquisite 1920s-30s violinistic style) at Indiana University Bloomington. Deborah also studied with distinguished Colburn pedagogue Robert Lisett and with Joachim Chassman (concertmaster of Columbia Pictures Orchestra 1945). She also attended UCLA on a music scholarship as a composition major where she was awarded first prize in the Compinsky Violin Competition. She studied piano with Anita Swearengin (accompanist to Jascha Heitfetz’z USC class) and secondary piano with Tim Dunne at Indian University Bloomington. Among her happiest memories from childhood is studying with renown Suzuki violin teacher Idell Low.

Deborah has performed in an array of venues in various styles—from classical and jazz at Walt Disney Concert Hall (with the California Philharmonic & Burt Bacharach Orchestra) to motion picture soundtracks (including John Ottman’s score for the movie “Pumpkin” starring Christina Ricci) & the jazz album “After Hours” with Eagles member Glenn Frey in 2012. Deborah’s solo violin playing is featured on the rock album “Colleen Grace” and on Kourosh Zolani’s world music album “Memoirs
